VEGPOWER – The vegetables have been defeated!

Earlier this year, our Primary schools took part in the national Campaign, VEGPOWER. Headed up by the Food Foundation and ITV, Children across the UK were on a mission to ‘Eat Them To Defeat Them’. Encouraging children to eat their vegetables by defeating them!

Our schools brought the campaign to life, making vegetable characters, running veg competitions, growing vegetables and talking around provenance and trying new and different vegetables in exciting ways.

Well done to all schools involved, the campaign went above and beyond expectation because of your hard work and imagination! So much so that we decided to offer prizes in the form of Love 2 Shop vouchers. It was extremely difficult to pick the winners. Congratulations to the below schools, who are the winners of the VEGPOWER competitions.

  • Best Vegetable Character goes to……Mandeville

For their Cauliflower inspired character ‘Colin flower goes fishing’

  • Best Counter Set Up goes to……Stephenson Way

From the beginning to the end of the campaign, Stephenson Way, created imaginative and fun counter top displays. Working with the children to create posters and visuals to support the campaign.

  • Best engagement with the pupils……Whitley

Alongside fun counter set ups and characters, Whitley engaged with the children throughout the campaign. The team made certificates for children to take home for defeating the veg.

  • Outstanding Effort……Brooms

The team at Brooms went above and beyond to help to defeat the vegetables. Pip ran a series of competitions, focussing on both healthy eating and exercise, getting both the teachers and children involved. They also offered veggie tasters and Pip dressed up as pea pod, to support pea week.
